Check out the Club's monthly meeting is held from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon on the last Saturday of each month. It's usually held at the Roundhouse Community Centre, Pacific Boulevard between Drake & Davie Street, Vancouver. Please check the web site for exact details. The meeting room location will be posted at the Reception of the Roundhouse foyer.
Meetings consist of about a half hour of business (upcoming events, club news, workshops, speakers, etc...) followed by an informal and constructive critique. The critique (lasting approximately 1 1/2 hours) is based on a monthly “challenge”. Bring one or two photos of a good size (at least 8"x10") that you'd like critiqued. The critiques always aim to offer constructive suggestions on the technical and artistic aspects of your photos...all of this is offered in a very informal & supportive way.
The PCV holds a members exhibition once a year, and offers field trips, workshops and technical seminars to help improve your photography. All levels of expertise are welcomed.

Abbotsford Photo Arts Club
Formed in 1975, the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club grew from the desire of a handful of people to continue to share their experiences and improve their photography. Beside fulfilling a social function, the club’s main objective has always been to help amateur photographers to develop and improve their proficiency. Many people find that a photography club fills a gap between the knowledge they acquire from a course in basic photography and the experience they need to operate independently as fulfilled amateur photographers.
APAC is fortunate to have members whose proficiency is unquestioned, and who stay with the club to help others achieve a higher standard.
Each October, the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club holds one of the largest Photographic Seminars in the country where 600 photography enthusiasts attend their choices of the 32 excellent workshops and attend presentations by well-known Canadian and American photographers.

The Langley Camera Club was established in 1961, as a group of 10 keen photographers, all slidemakers, sharing images, ideas, and expertise.
Our objectives are "to promote the art and science of photography through activities and programs which encourage greater interest in the sharing of knowledge, and application of photographic principles, and to share our enthusiasm with our community" - and to have fun while doing so! Currently we have a membership of around 50, most of whom are still traditional film photographers, although many, especially the newer members, are working with what we call the "digital revolution in photography " and this is challenging many older members to include this technology in their work. These photographers cover a wide range in age and in expertise - everyone from the point-and-shoot beginners to seasoned professionals with years of experience. All differences melt away in the camaraderie and common passionate quest for making and capturing good images, whether slide, print, or digital. The tastes and interests of our members cover a wonderful range of subjects - Nature, Macro, Weddings, Portraiture, Landscape, Photo-Journalistic, Aerial, Architecture, Abstract, and a host of creative compilations and permutations of these.

Burnaby Photographic Society
Our Society has photographers of all skill levels and development. Some of our members are novices while others are very experienced. Most of the membership falls some place in between.
Some of our members have their own darkrooms while others avail themselves of a processing lab. Many of our members have now graduated into digital photography. Some of the members photograph with slide film while others use print film. Some of the members use mostly black and white film but most prefer color. A few of us have experimented with Polaroid manipulations and hand coloring our black and white images.
Some of us are strictly nature photographers while others photograph everything they see. A few are studio photographers, arranging everything before pushing the shutter release.
What we all have in common is a love of the art and science of photography and a willingness to share our skills with our fellow Burnaby Photographic Society members. We enjoy sharing our images and we share in the experiences of taking pictures.
For more information about the club and where/when they meet, go to: http://www.burnabyphotographicsociety.com | |
